DJ Los, a Detroit Hip Hop legend, celebrated his 40th birthday in high style at The Foundation of 5e Gallery on April 17, 2012. The evening was a celebration of great music and community, as some of the city’s greatest rappers of all time showed out to perform on the same stage in what is being considered a historical event for the city.
Guest artists included Awesome Dre with Doe Dubbla, Boss, Njeri Earth, Merciless Ameer, Dice, 5 ELA, Moe Dirdee, Konphlict and Alius Pnukkl, along with a special Foundation cipher led by hosts Mahogany Jones and Nik Nak, backed by a band with DJ Los’ father, P-Funk legend Carl “Butch” Small.
This video of the event was shot and edited by Steve Furay for Common Breath Media. For more about DJ Los and Butch Small, check out this article in The Michigan Citizen.
